Within the framework of the visit of the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) and the Executive Secretary of the European Economic Commission (UNECE) Olga Algayerova to Azerbaijan, discussions on expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan were organized by the Ministry of Economy in the Baku Business Center.

Officials of relevant state institutions and representatives of international organizations took part in the event.

Speaking at the meeting, UN Deputy Secretary General Olga Algayerova highly appreciated Azerbaijan's effective cooperation with various UN specialized agencies, especially its partnership with UNECE, which has been a member since 1993, in several areas of activity. It was noted that in 2015, Azerbaijan's accession to the Sustainable Development Goals arising from the "Transformation of our World: 2030 Agenda" created new opportunities for cooperation with UN specialized agencies. Olga Algayerova emphasized the importance of the "Baku Forum on Sustainable Development" held in Baku in October of this year in terms of strengthening international and regional partnership, and noted that the Baku Declaration will contribute to the development of mutually beneficial relations with UNECE.

At the event, the "State Program on the use of alternative and renewable energy sources in the Republic of Azerbaijan" was adopted, measures were implemented in the field of alternative and sustainable energy, consistent work was carried out to ensure the healthy living of the population, "Sustainable development" was organized by the Government of Azerbaijan and UNECE in Baku.
