In order to discuss the results of the international seminar and the next stages of SDG implementation, Deputy Minister of Economy Sevinc Hasanova met with the delegation headed by George Buman, the head of the Sustainable Development Group of the Regional Center for Europe and the CIS of the United Nations Development Program.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the seminar held in order to support the fulfillment of obligations arising from the "Sustainable Development Agenda until 2030", the reconciliation of state programs covering socio-economic fields with the SDGs, as well as the determination of national priorities for sustainable development and their indicators, and thanked the UN representatives who participated in the seminar as an international expert group. During the seminar, it was pointed out that the development of healthcare, education and labor markets, which were identified as the main priorities in the discussions, will contribute to the implementation of inclusive social policy in the country, and that the introduction of compulsory health insurance serves to ensure the implementation of SDGs, reduce poverty, and develop human capital.
In the meeting with George Buma, the establishment of the monitoring and evaluation system of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals with the UN in accordance with international requirements, cooperation in the field of modeling the SDGs under various scenarios and long-term development planning with the Department of Economic and Social Development of the UN and the University of Denver, USA, Sustainable Organization of the Baku Forum on Development, "Possible support of the UN in the actions to be implemented in the direction of the SDGs was discussed.
